お盆と夏休み（日本の行事）Obon＆Summer vaction

日本（にほん）には、7月（ひちがつ）、8月(はちがつ)に「お盆(ぼん)」という行事（ぎょうじ）があります。

仏教（ぶっきょう）では、先祖（せんぞ）が、あの世（よ）から、我（わ）が家（や）に帰（かえ）って来（く）るのををお迎（むか）えする時（とき）がお盆（ぼん）です。
7月（ひちがつ）が新盆（にいぼん）であり、8月（はちがつ）が旧盆（きゅうぼん）と言（い）われます。
8月の旧盆（きゅうぼん）が多（おお）いのですが、所（ところ）によっては、月日（つきひ）の異（こと）なるところもあります。
8月（はちがつ）のお盆（ぼん）は、13日（じゅうさんにち）から16日（じゅうろくにち）まで続（つづ）きます。
13日（じゅうさんにち）には、ご先祖（せんぞ）をお迎（むか）えし、16日（じゅうろく）は、あの世（よ）へ帰（かえ）っていきます。
８月15日（はちがつじゅうごにち）は、終戦記念日（しゅうせんきねんび）でもあります。
だから、多（おお）くの企業（きぎょう）では、この日前後（ひぜんご）に、夏休（なつやす）み休暇（きゅうか）を取（と）ります。約一週間（やくいっしゅうかん）から10日位（とおかぐらい）あります。
そして、多（おお）くの人（ひと）は、地元（じもと）に帰（かえ）り、お墓参（はかまい）りに行（い）きます。
故（ゆえ）に、この日前後（ひぜんご）は、車（くるま）の移動（いどう）で高速道路（こうそくどうろ）などは渋滞（じゅうたい）が激（はげ）しくなります。
しかし、昨今（さっこん）は、この時期（じき）に、お墓参（はかまい）りとは別（べつ）に、海外旅行（かいがいりょこう）へ行（い）く人（ひと）も多（おお）いです。

In Japan, there is an event called "Obon" in July and August.
In Buddhism, Obon is the time when ancestors come back to their homes from the other next world.
July is called ” Nii bon”, and August is called ”Kyūbon”.
There are many Kyūbon in August, but there are some areas where the dates are different.
The Bon Festival in August lasts from the 13th to the 16th.
We will welcome our ancestors on the 13th and return to the other next world on the 16th.
August 15th is also the anniversary of the end of the Pacific War.
Therefore, many companies take summer vacation around this day.
There are about 10 days from about one week.
And many peoples go back to their hometowns to visit the graves.
Around this day, the traffic on the highways will be heavy due to the movement of cars.
But, nowadays, many people go on overseas travels  at this time,  more than visiting the graves.
